How many hours should one study daily to qualify NEET or JEE or UPSC?

Counting the number of hours is not important. What counts is your hard work, dedication and consistency which are essential for selection.

Instead of counting the number of hours you can count the number of pages that you study everyday.

Having said that you should be giving at least 2 hours for self study on weekdays and 8-10 hours on holidays during your preparation period. This will go upto 12-14 hours per day with few months before exams.

But that doesn’t mean you keep sitting on chair for 8 hours straight and nothing gets absorbed by your brain.

You should try to get the maximum output from your input.

Here are some tips how do you do that:

  1. Get the maximum output from your input.
  2. Don’t day dream; focus your senses on what you are studying.
  3. Gradually increase your study duration.
  4. Be persistent.
  5. Set self goals. Like an ice cream if I complete a chapter in 2 hours.
  6. Healthy competition with friends.
  7. Do not waste time on social media, not even Quora.  If you find something worthy, jot it down in your notes.
  8. In your free time instead of surfing social media sites, search for study related topics which you didn’t understand.
  9. Do not keep sticking to same topic whole day if you find it boring. Keep reshuffling topics in between.
  10. Solve previous questions of any exam you are sitting for be it NEET, JEE, UPSC..in your free time…
  11. Engage your friends in conversation that hovers around studying then wasting time on chit chatting.
  12. Keep following your progress. Do not expect over night increment.  Identify your mistakes and correct them.

Happy Studying  🙂
