PMET

Punjab Medical Entrance Test (PMET) is an Entrance examination conducted each year for admission to various bachelor medical courses which are MBBS, BDS, BAMS and BHMS in the entire medical, dental, Ayurvedic/ Homoeopathic Institutes across Punjab. Punjab Medical Entrance Test is conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot on behalf of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.

There are about 20 medical/dental colleges in Punjab for which admission is done through Punjab Medical Entrance Test. In all these colleges 85% seats are reserved for Punjab candidates and 15% seats for Outside Punjab candidates. A large number of candidates appear for PMET every year and the competition is quite tough so candidates have to really work very hard to get admission through PMET.

Eligibility criteria:

A candidate should be a bonafide resident of Punjab with Punjab domicile. A candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with atleast 50% marks (40% for SC/BC) in all these subjects. Also a candidate should have passed in English as well. Those who are appearing for class 12th exams in 2011 can also apply.
Also a candidate should have attained the age of 17 years before 31st December, 2011. The candidate’s state of mind should be completely fit and that he or she will suffer no complication, particularly health wise at the time of admission.

The candidates that are in the first year of the Bachelor level degree of graduation can also apply for this Entrance Test provided that they are under the specific age limit concerned with this test. Even candidates that have passed their Bachelor Level degree from any recognized Indian University can apply for this exam, provided he or she is a resident of the state and that they also fall under the specific age limit. However these respective candidates have to attain a Study all the compulsory Subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Zoology or Botany.

Availability of Application forms for Punjab MET 2011:

The forms for PMET 2011 are expected to be available by May in Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and also from selected Canara Bank Branches. The form can also be obtained by post from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot by sending a Demand Draft along with the request for form.
The candidates that want to send the application form through post have to provide a signature of the candidate in the back side of the Demand Draft and should also clearly mention the registration number at the top of the requisite letter.

Date of Entrance Examination:  First week of June, 2011
Availability of Application Forms: First week of May, 2011
Last Date for receipt of completed application forms: Last week of May, 2011

 

 

Pattern of Examination:

The paper will be of 150 minutes duration consisting of 200 multiple choice questions from the following subjects:.

Physics-50 questions
Chemistry-50 questions
Biology-100 questions

For every correct answer a candidate will get 4 marks and for every incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted.

Syllabus:

The syllabus for the above exam is same as that for the Higher Secondary level in accordance with the Punjab Education Board. The syllabus covers the subject of Physics, Biology, and Chemistry along with English.

    I just want to confirm that from 2014 there will be no state pmt and admission wll only be on the basis of AIMPT in allthe states or is this rule appliabe in punjab only????? plz reply fast

    punjab state rank 372 in neet
    i dont think i’ll get a nice college
    actually on the day of neet i was very ill, and gave the exam in a very bad condition
    i took coaching from aakash
    my counterparts of my batch whom i used to give competition …have gotten into lhmc , and other colleges in delhi , seth gs, afmc, and all

    i really cant make up my mind
    shoul i take admission this year or drop?
    please help

      if it was your first attemt, then you should drop. but if you already was a dropper then get through the college you get now. dropping more than 1 year reduces the efficiency in many cases.

    Dear Rahul,
    My son was born in Maharashtra and did his X from there, if he does his 11 & 12 from Punjab, is he eligible for Punjab PMT.

      Thres No punjab PMT now. NEET:The unified national level entrance is all set to take over.

      So Domiciles shouldnt be a problem now.

    Sir you usually say that level of questions is very low as comparable to Engineering exams in Medical entrances.But you are writing book on Physics as well as on Chemistry.How would it affect Medical students.Also are your books are as useful in NEET as in PMTs.

      1. Learn all the formulas in physics, physical chemistry and see solved numericals from any reference book.no need to solve hi-fi ones.
      2. Learn imp. name reactions in organic ( appendix of pradeep), list of alloys, imp. compounds, orders in inorganic.
      3. Solve past papers
      4. Read both my books and NCERT in Bio.

    sir,
    im in +1. im a fresher . i’ve kinda wasted my 1st year. i bagged 92% in my 10 boards (icse) but only 70% in +1. sir i wanna know how to prepare for pmt’s now. now that i’ve realised my mistake i don’t wanna repeat it n suffer.i’ve joined aakash n im not scoring well in the regular tests. even my rank is way below my expectations. moreover i watch a lot of tv and thats d main reason that i don’t study now as i used to. in th all india aakash tst series my ranks have been as follws: 1417,783,1001
    ,3085 out of approx. 7000 students . n ican’t even figure out my study timings. ican study at night till 12:30 but i cannot wake up early in d morning.
    sir i’ve got only 1 yr left wid me n i’m ready to learn frm my mistakes . all i need is a little guidance from u. kindly guide me so that i can crack pmt’s.
    i’ve always aspired to become a doctor. i’m not even afraid of the pmt’s . its jst dat i can’t figure out what to do now. i’m blanked. i bought ur book. really a nice n compact book. i was eager to know that when will b ur 2nd book i.e biology at ur fingertips out ??. kindly help me and plz reply as soon as possible.

      2. Read the books I have mentioned in the article.

      3. Do get my books.

      4. Solve past years papers of aipmt, bhu, aiims and your state PMT.

      5. Start with NCERT..make it your base book.

      for bio, just do NCERT and both my books thourougly.

      I am also working on similar books for physics and chem and would come out in a few months.
