There is no single best branch. The right one depends on the work you enjoy, your values, your rank and your situation. These guides compare work, residency, super-speciality, earnings and future scope so you can decide.
Clinical branches include Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, OBG, Orthopaedics, Dermatology and Psychiatry. Para-clinical branches include Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Forensic Medicine. Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry are pre-clinical.
Through NEET-SS, General Medicine and General Surgery have the widest choice, followed by Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, OBG, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Respiratory Medicine, Psychiatry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and ENT. Each guide lists the DM, MCh and FNB options for that branch.
MD, MS and DNB broad-specialty courses take three years. Super-speciality DM, MCh and DrNB courses take another three years, and FNB fellowships two years.
From MCC NEET PG All India counselling final results for 2025 and 2024. They are past trends, not a guarantee.
